I just finished my first batch of batiks. All fabrics were dyed with the batik dyes I brought from my last trip to Indonesia, from Jogyakarta. I had a feeling, that some of these dyes ingredients have gone bad, as instead of powder, they turned to see through gel. I was afraid that becaose of that, I will not get the right colours. It turned out to be not so bad on the end.
Now I need to find some decent paints for fabric dyeing, so I can continue experimenting with the batik technique. If you know any paints or dyes that you can use in a cold water let me know. It has to be for the cold water, because we dye fabric, with the layer(s) of wax on it and we do not want to melt it.
Batik is really cool dying technique, as the final effect is possible to be seen only after all the wax layers are removed.
